Cruisin' Around Town with Ronnie Setser
Best of the Best
October 2004
Benny and Alta Jordan's 1955 Studebaker President Speedster The Jordans purchased this car in May 2002, pulling it out of a cow
pasture in Zephyrhills, FL, after getting a hot tip from a friend. Under
their loving guidance, a complete frame off restoration was transformed in October 2002, in a small barn on East Sligh Avenue in
Tampa, FL. Everything else on the car was restored, piece by piece, to
its original state, including the beautiful Beige and Grey interior. Benny states the engine still had it's original factory chalk markings,
indicating that it had never been rebuilt or replaced. Just a point of
information, in January 1955, the luxury hardtop in the President line
was introduced at a starting price of $2,381. Studebaker Speedster has a
259 cubic inch Passmaster V-8, equipped with a four barrel carb and dual exhausts. Studebaker only built 2215 of the 1955 Speedsters and
fewer than 200 are still believed to exists.
